Throughout my life, designing structures and building them sustainable has been a source of creativity and craftsmanship. These are some of the projects that have allowed me artistic expression and tactile productivity.
The Vineyard House
The Lavra, Arroyo Grande, California
Designed in 2019-2020, the Vineyard house looks upon the vineyard with a peek-a-boo view of Pacific Ocean. It was built using Structurally-Insulated-Panels (SIP), fire-resistant building, and a live-roof. It was completed in 2024.
The Mushroom House
The Lavra, Arroyo Grande, California
Designed together with my sons, who were 8 and 11 at the time, the Mushroom house became their house at the Lavra community and had a zipline between their two beds!
Smaller Projects
Annesi
Lopez Island, Washington
Designed in 1999 and built over the next few summers, Annesi was named after the summer house of St. Basil of Ceasarea, St. Gregory of Nyssa, and St. Macrina; in Greek, it is the word for when a spring relaxes. It was built primarily from wood milled on-designed. It looks over Puget Sound and the other islands of the San Juan archipelago.
